Services: Provides advocacy, access to resources and support to women who are in conflict with the law. Common issues that are struggled with include addiction, poverty, mental health issues, marginalization, racism, long-term effects of residential schools and other forms of discrimination. Targeting women who are at risk of becoming -or have been- involved with the criminal justice system. Programs and resources include: Bail Verification and Supervision Program - supervision and support for women charged with offences, Women for Change Program - anger management, STOPlifting Program - addresses and explores the reasons why women shoplift or commit fraud, Transition Housing - bridging the gap between homelessness and independent living, Reading Stories Project - connection institutionalized women with their children through reading, Clothing Depot - providing 'release packages' to women who have recently been released and 'court clothing', and The Women's Book for Prisoners Project - books are donated by members of the community.

Services: Provides legal help to those who are financially eligible. Has lawyers on duty at many criminal and youth courts and some child welfare courts across the province (Duty Counsel). A Duty Counsel is available in Portage la Prairie. Types of cases covered vary; criminal offences: "indictable" and "summary conviction"; family cases, other cases, and public interest cases. 
Eligibility: Legal Aid Manitoba provides legal help to people who are financially eligible on cases with merit. Legal Aid looks at the financial resources of the applicant including income, assets and debts and whether money will be available to pay legal fees at the end of the case. More information on who qualifies is available online.

How to Access: One can find help in court through the Duty Counsel lawyer. Every person detained by police or RCMP has the right to contact a lawyer. From a shelter or hospital, you can phone the Legal Aid Manitoba Office nearest you and they will arrange to take your application. Criminal matters from other provinces must be applied for and qualify for Legal Aid from the province where you are charged.

Services: Provides services to victims of the most serious crimes as per The Victims' Bill of Rights, including victims of domestic violence and child victims and witnesses.  There is a service of compensation for victims of crime, assistance with Victim Impact Statements, and a victim witness assistance program.  Victim Services help people access their rights, understand their responsibilities and connects them to other services or agencies. Services are free and are available in person, by phone, fax or internet. Information is also available about the court and criminal justice system, counselling referrals, information about what to expect if subpoenaed to court, court preparation, court support (when possible), safety and protection planning, information on the offender's sentence once convicted, and how to contact the correctional facility if a sentence is imposed, information on how to find out an offender's release date from a provincial jail, and information on how to register with the National Parole Board if the offender is sentenced federally.
