For Schools, Churches, and Organizations

Whether in a school, church, or organization, creating a welcoming space for newcomers is essential to building a strong, connected community. A warm greeting, an open invitation to participate, and a genuine interest in their story can help new members feel seen, supported, and at home. When we welcome others with kindness and curiosity, we create a culture where everyone belongs.

Start a 'Welcome Wall'

Join the Language of the Day challange

A Welcome Wall is a great way to show that your organization welcomes diversity. When someone steps into a new space — a school, a workplace, or a neighborhood — even small gestures can make a big difference. Starting a Welcome Wall is a powerful way to recognize and celebrate newcomers from the moment they arrive.

Every newcomer brings with them a world of stories, languages, and traditions that enrich our community. The Language of the Day challenge is one way we honor and celebrate this diversity.

Each day, we highlight a different language spoken by members of our community — including those spoken by newcomers. You’ll learn greetings, fun facts, and phrases that open the door to new cultures and perspectives. It's not about perfect pronunciation — it’s about connection, curiosity, and respect.

Host a potluck, story circle, or youth mural

Celebrate the arrival of newcomers by creating spaces where everyone feels seen, heard, and valued. Host a community potluck to share favorite dishes from around the world. Gather in a story circle where people can speak about their journeys, traditions, and dreams. Collaborate on a youth mural that reflects the diversity and hopes of your community.

These shared moments build connection, foster belonging, and remind us that every voice adds something meaningful to our collective story.
